Travis Perkins buys builders' merchants

Travis Perkins, the builders' merchants, is paying pounds 14m for BMSS, which operates a chain of 26 timber and builders' merchants in the West Midlands, Wales and Greater Manchester areas. The cash offer is worth 153p per share. In the year to January, BMSS reported pre-tax profits of pounds 706,000 on sales of pounds 18.6m. The location of its branches complements those of Travis Perkins which are principally in the South-east and Midlands.
