Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

o Stanelco, a stock market oddity, produced one of the day's best gains, up 0.25p to 0.75p. It announced profits of pounds 1,000 against a loss of pounds 160,000.

The little thermal processing group is under the wing of corporate financier Christopher Mills who is looking for a business to inject into what is a classic shell operation. But Stanelco, once a property business called Merchant Manufactory Estate Co, has been seeking a buy for a long while.

Past investigations have been costly.

o Bridport Gundry, the technical textile maker, rose 14p to a 130p year's high, reflecting a 20,000 agency cross.

The group is due to report year's results soon and the market is looking for further strong growth with a 50 per cent gain to pounds 1.2m expected.
