SHARES IN Essex Furniture, the furniture maker and retailer, were suspended at 11.5p yesterday at the company's request, pending clarification of the group's financial position. The company this year set up a new subsidiary to sell sofas and chairs by direct mail and invested pounds 500,000 in a new factory in the West Midlands. A year ago the shares peaked at 73.5p, valuing the company at pounds 8.7m.
