Octagon Healthcare, a consortium led by Laing, the construction group, is to build the largest hospital to date under the government's Private Finance Initiative. Work on the 800 bed Norfolk & Norwich Hospital, costing pounds 214m, will begin immediately. The hospital has been backed by Barclays Capital, which advised, underwrote and invested in the venture.
