Revellers will have to manage without cash at music festivals next year, after organisers of events such as Glastonbury, Leeds and Reading said that they were switching to a system that allows payment to be made by security wristbands.

The organiser Festival Republic said that all its festivals next year will use the cashless technology, provided by Barclaycard. The system is being tested at the Wireless Festival in London.
