Eurotunnel , the company which operates the sub-sea link between Britain and France, said today it had asked for its shares to be suspended pending a statement from the company.
"Pending an important announcement that is expected during the course of today, Groupe Eurotunnel SA has requested that trading in all of the group's securities be provisionally suspended on Euronext Paris and the London Stock Exchange," it said in a statement.
The timing of the statement depends on the French AMF market watchdog, a Eurotunnel spokeswoman said.
Asked whether the statement was related to a second stage in the company's planned capital increase, she said she could "not deny nor confirm" that.
Eurotunnel completed the issue of €800m (£6.3m) in subordinated debt and had been planning a second €900m issue of share warrants.
