The Government must step up efforts to cut the burden of red tape faced by industry, the EEF, the organisation that represents the manufacturing sector, has said ahead of the release of a progress report on the coalition's efforts to scale back regulations.

"Government has set out the right ambitions to reduce the burden of regulation and its approach has the potential to deliver it," EEF Director of Policy Steve Radley said ahead of the publication of the coalition's latest statement on new regulations.

"With major new measures such as the new national pension savings scheme in the pipeline for next year, the Government needs to set out plans for where it can reduce the burden on employers."
