More take the plunge
Half a million new businesses will start up this year - a 10 per cent rise on last year - according to Barclays Bank's latest small business bulletin. The number of closures is expected to stabilise at 400,000, leading to an overall rise in the number of businesses, to nearly 2.7 million by the end of the year.
