PUBLIC confidence in the life assurance and pensions industry is at rock-bottom, according to a poll due out next week from the National Consumers Council.

Only one in four people are confident of getting the right product in such an important financial decision, writes Richard Thomson, with concern centred on sales staff who may lack training or be motivated to sell the wrong product.
