WATCH manufacturer Lorus has launched a luminous watch which it claims is the brightest on the market. Conventional luminous watches rely on a battery or on fluorescent paints containing small amounts of radioactive substances. The Lorus watch uses a newly developed aluminium oxide pigment which can store light quickly and then re-radiate it slowly - 10 minutes' exposure to light will allow the dial to glow for between four and five hours.
