United Breweries Chief executive Alan Jackson said he was confident that full-year results would show a return to profit.

"I am quietly optimistic that the company is now in a position to move forward," he said. Mr Jackson added that progress to date has been sufficiently encouraging for the company to actively investigate "suitable acquisition opportunities".
