The IG Metall union said its officials would not attend a forum planned by the engineering employers' association Gesamtmetall in Cologne tomorrow to discuss wage policy.

Engineering employers have angered the union by cancelling pay contracts, suggesting that they want workers to take a cut in pay in next year's round. A union spokesman said the atmosphere had been poisoned by the employers' move.
