HONGKONG & Shanghai Bank has further consolidated its hold on Midland Bank's UK operations by replacing the head of branch banking and the director of human resources with its own executives, writes John Willcock.
Chris Wathen, managing director, branch banking, who has been with Midland for more than 20 years, will be leaving the bank 'by mutual consent', and Bryan Barnacle, human resources director, is retiring.
The post of head of branch banking has been absorbed by Midland's new deputy chief executive, Richard Orgill, who was with HSBC Australia.
Barry Hine, senior manager human resources in HSBC Holdings, will take over as Midland's head of human resources.
