Financial services deadline poser

Following the American rejection of the financial services deal being negotiated at the World Trade Organisation, European negotiators sought to extend yesterday's deadline by a month to reach an agreement that would exclude the US. European Trade Commissioner Sir Leon Brittan said it was "vital that the American move does not lead to the unravelling of the potential deal"
