David Dey, chief executive of Energis, the telecommunications arm of the National Grid Company, has left the company. Mr Dey's departure comes at a difficult time for the National Grid Company, which is being prepared for flotation. It is believed that Mr Dey did not see eye to eye with Energis's chairman, Gordon Owen.
Energis, which is striving to become one of the main rivals to BT and Mercury in the long distance market, is building a network on the back of the electricity pylon system.
