DIAGEO DIRECTORS were paid more than pounds 13m in the 18 months to June after sharing in a pounds 6.73m options bonus last year as previous Guinness and Grand Metropolitan share incentive and option schemes were wound up, the drinks group's accounts showed.

Chairman Tony Greener received pounds 1.23m and cashed in options worth pounds 510,000. George Bull, who retired as joint chairman in the period, received a salary of pounds 456,000 and exercised options worth pounds 1.29m. Executive directors were given a 2 per cent pay rise from 1 October.
