Cupid, which makes, imports, sells and hires bridal and formal wear, saw its results decline from pounds 867,000 pre- tax profit into pounds 1.5m taxable loss. Turnover rose from pounds 14.7m to pounds 16.4m. Loss per share is 10.5p (earnings 7.4p). No dividend (3.25p).
Europe Energy, the oil and gas group, lowered pre-tax losses from pounds 161,000 to pounds 133,000. Turnover improved to pounds 2.1m ( pounds 1.6m). Loss per share is cut to 1.06p (1.37p). No dividend.
S W Wood Group, which procures and re-smelts aluminium, returned to the black with pre-tax profits of pounds 1m (loss pounds 250,000), helped by a 102 per cent increase in turnover to pounds 10.6m ( pounds 5.2m). Earnings per share climbed to 4.6p (loss 3.4p). Final dividend is 0.75p, making 1.25p (0.25p).
Others
Kleen-e-ze Holdings, the direct sales catalogue retailer, boosted pre-tax profits from pounds 336,000 to pounds 606,000 in the six months to 28 February on turnover up from pounds 25.3m to pounds 29.2m. Earnings per share improved to 3.17p (2.17p). No dividend.
