A FORMER chief economic adviser to President Bill Clinton is joining the board of Fox Entertainment, the American subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's global media empire.

Laura Tyson (pictured), who was President Clinton's National Economic Advisor between 1995 and 1996 and was the first woman chair of the White House Council of Advisers, becomes an outside director. Fox said it would rely on her contracts "at the highest level of government" to develop its "ambitious agenda". Christos Cotsakos, chairman of E*Trade, the Internet- based trading business, also becomes an outside director.
