FORTE SELLS CATERING ARM

Forte, the hotels group, is expected to agree the sale of its Gardner Merchant contract catering subsidiary for pounds 400m this week. The buyer will be a consortium including Gardner's management and led by CINven, British Coal's venture capital company.

PLASMON PROFIT

Plasmon, the specialist in optical data storage products, made pre-tax profits of pounds 98,000 against a pounds 1.53m loss in the year ended 31 March. Turnover rose 145 per cent to pounds 8.5m.

APV pounds 15m deal APV, which supplies process equipment to the food and drink industries, has won a brewery project worth pounds 15m in Korea.
