BR engineering works fetch pounds 30m

British Rail is selling its engineering and maintenance works for pounds 30m. ABB, the Swedish Swiss group, has bought depots at Ilford, Doncaster and Chart Leacon. Operations at Eastleigh will be sold to a management and employee buyout team and those at Springburn and Wolverton to a consortium of Babcock and Siemens.
