TOKYO STOCKS ended lower, with worries about export earnings depressing the Nikkei 225 index, which fell by 145.79 points, or 1.01 per cent, to 14,221.75. Export-led firms - including Nikon and NEC - came under pressure after the dollar weakened further against the yen in Tokyo trade. Unwinding corporate cross-holdings ahead of the year-end also dented prices.
Trading volumes were light, with 420 million shares changing hands, compared with 469 million on Friday.
