THE CAC-40 index closed higher yesterday, helped by a bounce in France Telecom, as operators shrugged off Wall Street's weakness amid expectations that Paris blue-chips could hit 5,600 by the year end.
The CAC-40 ended up 1 per cent at 5,535.76, with gainers outpacing losers 34-5. The total volume was 3.1 billion euros, against a daily average of around 3.5bn for November, hinting that business may be beginning to slow in the countdown to Christmas.
