PARIS STOCKS rose modestly yesterday, with the CAC-40 closing up just 0.24 per cent in spite of the Nissan-Renault talks. The index gained 10.09 points to close at 4,185.12.
Sentiment was held back by the absence of an anticipated rally in banking shares on the back of BNP's bid for Societe Generale and Paribas. BNP, generally expected to win the bid, fell 2.5 per cent. SG and Paribas barely moved as traders awaited clearance from regulators.
