US STOCKS rose for the fourth time in five days, led by Microsoft and Intel, on optimism that computer-related companies will see the fastest profit growth.
The Nasdaq Index gained 51.55, or 2.4 per cent, to 2172.53, its third record in four sessions. The S&P 500 Index rose 24.97, or 2.1 per cent, to 1228.54, also an all-time high. The Dow Jones rose 157.57, or 1.7 per cent, to 9202.03, within 173 points of its 23 November record.
