US STOCKS rose for a third day as computer and Internet shares staged a rally. America Online, Amazon.com and Onsale soared after the analyst Morgan Stanley Dean Witter made bullish comments on Internet companies.
The Dow Jones rose 85.22, or 1 per cent, to 8988.85, still 4 per cent below its 23 November record. The Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 51.88, or 2.5 per cent, to 2138.02, topping the record it set on Friday.
