STOCKS ROSE yesterday, sending the Nasdaq Composite Index above 3700 for the first time, as Microsoft extended its five-day winning streak on optimism that Windows 2000 will be its most profitable software ever.
The Nasdaq rose 93.11, or 2.6 percent, to a record 3715.06. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 19.57, or 0.2 per cent, to 11,244.89, within 100 points of its 25 August record. The Standard and Poor's 500 Index gained 5.45, or 0.4 per cent, to 1418.78.
