US STOCKS ended weak yesterday after a report on inflation at the wholesale level presented a mixed picture.
The Dow Jones average fell 50.97, or 0.5 per cent, to 11,028.43, surrendering an earlier gain as investors began to leave their desks for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 34.94 points, or 1.2 per cent, to a record 2,886.96 on optimism that computer-related spending will increase after a year 2000 test date passed without a hitch.
