STOCKS moved higher in lacklustre trading as excitement over the latest data subsided. The Commerce Department reported that the producer price index rose by just 0.2 per cent, in line with expectations. Other data revealed that US retail sales rose by 1 per cent in May. Analysts said investors were focusing on next week's consumer price index, scheduled for Wednesday.
An analyst said: "It's just another lacklustre day. All the hoopla is out, we're living number-by-number."
