US STOCKS bucked the volatility in the Internet sector yesterday to mount a rally after four consecutive days of falls.
The Dow Jones industrial average moved up 171.07 to 10,702.16; the NYSE Composite gained 7.50 to 624.84. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index closed up 46.28 points to 2,427.18. The broader-based S&P 500 index finished up 20.35 at 1,304.75. Trading curbs, meant to slow down trading activity, were triggered 20 minutes before the close.
