index, which on Monday suffered one of its steepest losses ever, was up 32.02 at 2,377.63. However, industrial shares, one of the most popular buys on the markets last week, continued to suffer. At lunch-time, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 34.93 at 10,405.60.
"I don't think the tech group will stay down. This is just a normal pause to refresh," said Alfred E. Goldman, chief market strategist at AG Edwards and Sons.
