US STOCKS rose, sending the Dow Jones index to a fourth successive record close. Boeing, other manufacturers and oil companies that stand to benefit from economic recoveries abroad led the gains. The Dow climbed 51.06 points to 10,462.72.
America Online and other Internet shares slumped for a third day, while Pfizer dropped after a profit warning.
The Nasdaq Composite rose 14.76 points to 2,522.04 after rebounding from early losses.
