US STOCKS ended mixed yesterday in one of the slowest trading sessions of the year as concerns about the outlook for interest rates and for high-flying technology stocks sidelined many investors.

The Dow Jones index closed up 18.2 points, or 0.2 per cent, at 9,324.78 after spending much of the day flitting in and out of positive territory.

The high-tech Nasdaq index ended up 7.22 points, or 0.32 per cent, at 2,295.25.
