US STOCKS fell as Intel and Advanced Micro Devices led computer- related shares downwards amid signs that falling prices of microprocessors are hurting profits.
The Nasdaq fell 82.87, or 3.3 per cent, to 2,410.54 - its biggest decline since 30 November. The Dow Jones fell 62.31, or 0.7 per cent, to 9,304.50. Stocks were hurt by speculation that economic strength may prompt the Federal Reserve to head off inflation by raising interest rates.
