SHARES ended slightly lower amid a muted reaction to the Bank of England's decision to leave interest rates unchanged. The move had been widely predicted and the FTSE 100 only lost 13 points to close at 6,048.3. The blue-chip index was in positive territory for most of the day but was hit by a bout of late selling prompted by Wall Street's shaky start. The smaller indices fared better, with the FTSE 250 ending 9.6 higher at 5,286.9 and the Small Cap rising 6.2 to 2,282.5.
