THE STOCK MARKET was knocked by a decision by Morgan Stanley to adjust its MSCI benchmark indices, which will see a lower weighting of Hong Kong stocks.
The Hang Seng Index ended down 171.57 points or 1.34 per cent at 12,608.18.
The MSCI is an investment benchmark used by fund managers. MSCI executive director John Fildes said Hong Kong's weighting would come down from just under 33 per cent now to just over 26 per cent.
