STOCKS ROSE almost 5 per cent as bargain hunters returned after gloomy economic news and dollar weakness had battered shares on Monday. The Xetra DAX closed 214.40 higher at 4,185.39, while the DAX ended up 122.41 at 4,156.64.
Market sentiment remained subdued by the likelihood of more profit warnings.
Among gainers, computer giant SAP rose 6 per cent amid reports it would report strong third-quarter figures this week, while Deutsche Bank gained 5 per cent after recent heavy falls.
