THE ELECTRONICALLY traded Xetra DAX index closed up 1 per cent, lifted by strength in Deutsche Telekom shares and a firm start on Wall Street. The DAX ended up 1.05 per cent higher at 5,356.95 points but trade was quiet as investors awaited the outcome of a Federal Reserve meeting on US interest rates.
The bluechip DAX index was buoyed by Deutsche Telekom shares which rose 2.03 per cent to 40.30 euros on the first day of trade after shares were sold in its new offering.
