From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The livestream of a 71-year-old man playing request from the internet attracted over 60,000 viewers at one stage last night.

Bernie Katzman, known as pianoimproman, climbed to the top of Reddit with his endless enthusiasm for playing commenters' requests.

Off the back of last night's success, Mr Katzman is planning on returning to the airwaves at 1pm Central Time (7pm GMT), which can be viewed here:

While Bernie plays his wife Mindy can be heard running the chat forum and generally adding to the quaintness of the whole spectacle.

Dancing between genres and sometimes both his pianos, viewers have been paying tribute to the pianist online as well as shouting along to his music in the comments.

Another bravado performance is expected tonight from both Bernie and his very vocal following.
