Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. With just two weeks left until Christmas, retailers are going head to head to provide cut-price quality goods to the growing ranks of festive shoppers. Top of the shops this week is Argos which has just launched its "Biggest ever half-price toy sale". The name is a little misleading and actually means there are more toys than ever before rather than larger savings but there are still dozens of great offers available. Bestseller so far is Disney's Toy Story 3 Ultimate Buzz Lightyear, down from £150 to £74.99.
Body Shop keeps you warm
There are plenty of great stocking fillers to be found in The Body Shop's "Cold weather essentials" sale this week. With 50 per cent off a range of accessories, including hemp hand protector now £5 and vitamin E moisture cream now just £4.50, there's something for anybody feeling worn down by the cold snap. The Body Shop offers free standard delivery on all orders and customers will receive a free scented hand cream, soap or body butter with all purchases over £25.
Tesco makes noise with iPods
Tesco has a great deal on iPods and accessories at the moment, with customers entitled to a free set of iPod speakers with any iPod Classic or Touch purchase. Prices obviously vary according to the iPod you pick up but with the brand new 8GB iPod Touch available for just £175, you're unlikely to find an iPod/speaker combo cheaper this side of December 25. The deal also comes with a bonus 2,500 Clubcard points, not to mention free delivery on all purchases over £50.
