Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

LMNTS Outdoor Studio set up the domes at Hotel X, with each one measuring seven feet wide and 12 feet tall.
Those participating in the yoga classes will be able to follow moves as demonstrated by an instructor on a raised podium.
They will also hear instructions inside their pods via an audio system.
All participants will have to have their temperature checked before being accepted into the class.
They will also need to show photo ID upon entry and bring their own mat and towel.
The classes start at $24 (£14) each.
It's not the first time that a fitness company has implemented special measures to ensure clients can maintain social distancing while exercising.
A gym in California reopened earlier this month with individual pods for clients to use so they can maintain social distancing while working out.
South Bay Fitness in Redondo Beach, USA, installed nine pods in its gym that are six feet wide and about 10 feet tall and come complete with dumbbells and a bench.
The pods took three days to install and are made from shower curtains and pipes.
In the UK, indoor gyms and fitness studios remain closed until further notice.
Despite the prime minister announcing earlier this week that restaurants, pubs, and cinemas would reopen on 4 July, he explained that it was still too early to reopen gyms, swimming pools and nightclubs among other venues in which people are typically in close confines.
