'I noticed a big difference in going without solid food for 16 hours'

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon have shared their daily routines, which include a mix of morning celery juice, regular workouts and intermittent fasting.

Speaking to Radio Times, both actors revealed they’d never heard of a fry-up and don’t usually eat breakfast.

“I do intermittent fasting, so no food in the morning,” said Aniston, 50, adding: “I noticed a big difference in going without solid food for 16 hours.”

Meanwhile, Witherspoon, 43, explained she starts her day with a green juice and a coffee before praising Aniston for being “great at wellbeing advice”.

As for what time they start their days, Aniston revealed she prefers to get up at 9am to help her “thrive” while Witherspoon, who has a seven-year-old son, rises at 5.30am.

Witherspoon went on to explain that she usually exercises at 7.30am, a habit she maintains six days a week.

Aniston aims for five weekly workouts, adding that she sometimes favours drinking celery juice in the morning.

Intermittent fasting is a broad term usually associated with the 16:8 diet, which advises people to fast for 16 hours a day and eat whatever they like in the remaining eight hours, typically between 10am and 6pm.

But the benefits have been disputed among health professionals.

Leading Harley Street nutritionist and author Rhiannon Lambert tells The Independent that the research suggests there is "no difference" between the performance when people do or don’t skip breakfast before exercising.

"In fact most people work out better when they have eaten some food to fuel them," she says. "While some may find intermittent fasting is beneficial and seemingly thrive on such a diet, others will not fair well at all. We are all so completely individual that as with any diet or workout, nothing can be expected to work for everyone."
