Model Iskra Lawrence opens up about body image during pregnancy update

Iskra Lawrence has opened up about how her body image has changed since she became pregnant.

In a new video uploaded to her YouTube account, the model, who is six months pregnant, described the physical changes she’s noticed.

“I really wanted to tell you the changes my body has been through,” she said, adding that this her first pregnancy.

“I know everyone’s pregnancy is completely different,” Lawrence added.

“I am someone who has struggled with body dysmorphia and an eating disorder so the first thing my community said was ‘are you doing okay? How do you feel in this new body?’”

The 29-year-old model went on to explain how some people asked whether or not she found the pregnancy triggering previous body image issues.

“One of the main factors that can trigger you is something being out of your control and your body changing in a way you’ve never seen before,” Lawrence said, adding that she has embraced the changes.

“I think it’s a really wonderful, positive challenge to be taken out of your comfort zone and to find the ways that your body is changing and to continue to love yourself in that journey, whatever that looks like for you,” she continued.

As for the specific changes she has noticed, Lawrence said she has developed acne on her chest and stretch marks around her stomach.

Meanwhile, the model added that her “hourglass figure” has also changed.

“I’ve always had a slim waist and an hourglass figure, so I’ve noticed extra padding around my middle in general,” she said.

As for exercise, Lawrence explained she is not working out the same way as before she became pregnant and has been favouring low-impact HIIT and TRX routines.

“Just moving my body, going through the motions, keeping up with my flexibility and all of the strength around my groin and pelvis is going to be really important with the birth,” she said.

Lawrence ended her video by proudly holding her bump on camera. “This is my new body,” she added. “I feel sexier and [more] beautiful than ever.”
