As a parent, you affect your child's view on alcohol

If you’ve helped them to develop a sensible attitude towards drinking, we’d like to hear from you

Parents can play a significant role in helping their children to grow up with a safe and sensible attitude towards drinking – and they have much more influence than they realise. Research shows 80 per cent of young people who felt their parents would disapprove of them drinking had never drunk alcohol.

The Independent is supporting the Why Let Drink Decide? campaign, and hopes to encourage parents to talk frankly with their children about alcohol as soon as they think it’s appropriate.
