Who? Hedy Lamarr

What? In the Forties, Lamarr hit upon an idea for synchronised variable radio frequencies, a technology that is now used in cellphones.

Where? The Casbah in Algiers. Hedy Lamarr starred in John Cromwell's film Algiers, in 1938.
