For ages the Scarsdale was a place to avoid, being generally packed out with Barbours and Americans with copies of The Preppy Handbook poking out of their back pockets.
Recently, however, it's had a bit of a renaissance, though its small rooms and wooden panelling remain exactly the same, as does its front garden area - if you try to sit out there, you'll find that people are oddly territorial about their tables and will do their best to avoid sharing with anyone else.
The bar staff are extremely pleasant, and if you worry about the wisdom of ordering red wine in a pub, they'll let you have a taste. A pint of Directors is pounds 1.86. Handy for the Kensington Odeon.
