Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Bestowed with both the honour and difficult job of capturing the memories of a bride and groom's big day, wedding photographers are increasingly moving away from calculated snapshots in favour of ones that encapsulate raw emotion.
Paying tribute to those that perfectly capture candid moments, Fearless Photographers – a website that helps you find the best wedding photographers around the world – curates a gallery of the most stunning images every two months, which it also shares on Instagram.
The site’s Fearless Awards are selected by a rotating panel of award-winning wedding photographers and highlight the best in unique and creative image making.
So far this year, the collection features images most of us can relate to, from tender snaps of emotional family and friends to jubilant photographs of the happy couple and little ones wreaking havoc.
One of the most heart-rending images comes from David Clumpner, from Missoula, Montana, who captured the emotional moment a bride comforts her mother while having a wig placed on her head.
The Fearless Award-winning image, was also shared on Bored Panda, where a woman came forward to say she was the woman featured in the moving photo.
“Thanks for all the heartfelt comments. I am the woman in the picture,' she wrote.
“It was a rough year to be diagnosed with breast cancer and undergo chemotherapy right before my beautiful daughter's wedding.
“When I was getting ready with the girls in the wedding and they were all there watching me it was just very emotional.”
Meanwhile, other touching images see a man, presumably the groom, helping a little boy put on his tie, a bride tearfully gazing at her new husband as he makes a speech and an artsy shot, by Sabina Mladin of Romania, that captures the reflection of a bride in an elderly woman’s glasses.
For every heartening moment that guarantees to put a teat in your eye though, come those that instantly fill you with joy.
From a photo of a bride laughing hysterically while her groom went skinny-dipping in the ocean, which was captured by Pasquale Minniti from Italy, to the hilarious moment a young boy drops his trousers to go to the toilet in a bush, the images are unforgettable.
In another shot taken by Soven Amatya from Britain, an elderly female relative dressed to the nines is pictured fast asleep in her wheelchair at the reception.
While others show a man lighting a cigarette by leaning into a fire performer’s prop, a toddler attempting to put on a garter and the shocked expressions of onlookers as a three tier wedding cake topples to the floor.
