According to court documents obtained by The Chicago Tribune, Kopech, 24, filed for divorce on 19 June, with the outlet reporting a hearing date is not listed. The news of the divorce comes days after Morgan publicly announced she was pregnant.
On Friday, the 28-year-old, who plays Toni Topaz on Riverdale, shared photos and videos from her gender reveal party on Instagram, where she revealed she is having a son.
“Exciting news…I am overjoyed to be welcoming my baby boy into the world this January,” Morgan captioned the post. “This little guy has already brought me so much happiness and a feeling of such a greater purpose. I cannot wait to meet you!!”
In the caption, Morgan also said that she was planning to raise her son away from the public eye “until he tells me otherwise”.
“I’m just so happy & can’t wait to dedicate everyday to being the best mommy I can be,” the actress added.
In addition to photos from the gender reveal party, Morgan also shared a picture of her positive pregnancy tests on 20 May, the day she found out she was pregnant.
Morgan concluded the post with a quote from Robert Munsch’s I Love You Forever, writing: “I’ll love you forever I’ll like you for always as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.”
In a statement to People, a representative for Morgan confirmed that Kopech is the father of the baby but did not comment on the divorce filing.
The couple, who announced their engagement last July after a year of dating, married in January 2020.
Morgan later shared a video from the wedding on Instagram, where she described it as “the best day of my life.”
Neither Morgan nor Kopech has publicly commented on the news of their separation.
