Usher and his longtime girlfriend Jennifer “Jenn” Goicoechea secretly got married in Las Vegas Nevada, just hours after the singer headlined the Super Bowl on Sunday.

The couple, who’ve been dating since 2019, got married at Vegas Weddings on 11 February, according to court documents obtained by the Associated Press. The ceremony had an officiant, Rev. Ronald Joseph Polrywka, who dressed up as an Elivis Preseley impersonator, and featured some witnesses, including Usher’s mother, Jonnetta Patton.

The owner of the Vegas wedding chapel, Melody Willis-Williams, also issued a statement to celebrate the pair. “Congratulations to the Newlyweds!” she said. “We were beyond thrilled to host in this epic day for Usher and his new wife.”

She also acknowledged that she wasn’t sharing any more information about the nuptials, for the sake of Usher and his now wife’s privacy. “As much as we love, love, this is the couple’s news to share any further details on. We’ll always be fans of Usher! Yeah!” the statement added, referring to a hit Usher song, “Yeah”.

Following the news of Usher’s Superbowl performance, many of his famous friends revealed how they found out about the wedding. More specifically, Lil Jon, who made a surprise appearance at the show, said that he didn’t know anything about the nuptials before the Super Bowl.

“He did not tell us anything,” Lil Jon told Entertainment Tonight on 12 February. “But I did see it in the press, of course. But no, I was gonna give him a break and I was gonna call him and just you know congratulate him, like he worked hard for this.”

He also shared his expectation that multiple people were out to Usher, following the news of his secret wedding. With that in mind, Lil Jon said that he was waiting a little bit to contact the “My Boo” singer.

“If I got 100 text messages and 100 DMs and 100 everything elses, I can only imagine what he got, so I let him [be],” he said. “I’ll hit him [up] tomorrow cause I, you know, me, myself, I haven’t even checked my phone. I got too many messages, so I’m like, ‘Give him a day.’”

On Sunday 11 February, Usher first took to the stage at Allegiant Stadium to perform the halftime showduring the Super Bowl face-off between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. According to People, the Grammy winner, 45, and Goicoechea had first obtained a marriage license just days before the Super Bowl, in Clark County, Nevada, on Thursday 8 February.

The couple, who share two children, Sovereign Bo, three, and Sire Castrello, two, together, have known each other since at least 2016. However, they made their relationship official in 2019, when they were spotted kissing at the Hollywood Bowl.

In September 2020, Usher revealed that he and the music executive had welcomed their first child together when he shared a photo of the newborn’s fingers on Instagram.

“We are feeling blessed and full of love with the arrival of our beautiful baby girl, Sovereign Bo Raymond. ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ by Stevie Wonder on repeat,” he wrote in the caption of the post.

During an appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in May 2021, the couple confirmed that they were welcoming their second child together, with Goicoechea posing with her hand over her baby bump. In October 2021, Usher announced the arrival of his son Sire Castrello Raymond.

In addition to the two children he shares with Goicoechea, Usher is also the father to two other children from a previous relationship. The singer and his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, share two sons: Usher “Cinco” V, 15, and Naviyd Ely, 14.
