This week, Ashley, a nurse who lives in Nashville, Tennessee, and goes by the username @traumarn13, shared a video to the platform showing the excited reactions she is met with every time fans mistake her for the popstar.
In the clip, which she captioned: “TRUE STORY!” the Blank Space singer’s doppelgänger portrays various scenarios that see her mistaken for Swift, including trips to Target, going on date nights with her husband, and going to the mall.
According to Ashley, she is met with choruses of “Taylor I love you!” “Can I get a photo?” and “OMG Taylor!” every time she leaves her home in Nashville, Swift’s hometown.
"I wear scrubs all day & just want to look nice...,” the TikTok user, who wears her hair in a blonde bob similar to Swift, explained in the clip, before concluding the video showing her dressed in pyjamas and a hoodie. “No more looking cute in public."
The video, which has since been viewed more than 1.4m times, prompted hundreds of comments from users who also thought Ashley was Swift.
“I thought I had just come across Taylor Swift’s TikTok,” one person commented.
Another said: “So you’re telling me you’re NOT Taylor Swift. Wild.”
In a follow-up video, Ashley addressed the response she’s received, telling her followers she “appreciates all the love” and “kind words”.
Explaining that the original video was made “as a joke” but that “a lot of people took it a little too seriously,” Ashley said that she’s been mistaken for Swift “since before I can even remember” and decided to make the TikTok after her friends suggested it.
"True story," she said. "I did move to Nashville, my nickname's been Taylor Swift since before I can even remember. The video was an idea from my old, old middle school and high school friends, so I thought it'd be funny to do it.
"I didn't realise it was gonna blow up, but that is okay. I'm not really that bothered by it, so just take it with a grain of salt.”
“But I appreciate the love, and I love you guys so much,” she concluded.
