Multiple TikTok stars, including Charli and Dixie D’Amelio, Chase Hudson, Madi Monroe, Bryant Eslava and Noah Beck, are facing backlash after photos and videos have emerged showing them allegedly vacationing in the Bahamas.

This week, the Instagram account TikTokRoom shared a clip of the influencers posing together with masks on, with BuzzFeed reporting that the social media stars are specifically staying at the Atlantis resort in Nassau.

In the same post, the watchdog account also shared a photo uploaded by Monroe, 16, showing her on a private jet holding a glass of what appears to be champagne.

“I’m on my way,” the influencer captioned the photo.

In a follow-up post, TikTok Room shared additional images of the influencers taken by other TikTok users at the same destination with the caption: “More from the influencers at the Bahamas.”

While most of the TikTok stars in the Bahamas, who travelled from Los Angeles, California, where Covid-19 cases are surging, have kept evidence of the trip off of their social media accounts, the leaked photos of the vacation have sparked criticism from their fans and followers.

“It’s so selfish to be travelling to the Bahamas during a global pandemic... I'm genuinely pissed off that people won’t take any issue seriously unless it directly affects them,” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another said: “I have seriously lost hope for all influencers yet again. Flying to the Bahamas will just make it worse for everyone. They're so so selfish.”

A significant amount of the criticism was directed at 16-year-old Charli, TikTok’s most-followed user, who has been accused of being “hypocritical” as she recently went on Instagram Live to encourage her followers to stay safe and stay home amid the pandemic.

“I’m asking you, like please stop being so inconsiderate to others,” the TikTok star said during the Live, in which she encouraged other teens to stay home and not see friends. “You are putting other people at risk.”

“There is no way Charli D’Amelio got on Live and told everyone to stop hanging out with their friends bc they’re endangering the people around them while she’s been doing the EXACT same thing and is currently in the Bahamas with her friends…” one person tweeted.

Someone else said in a tweet directed at Charli: “Explain why you told everyone to stay at home because they’re being inconsiderate and irresponsible but you and your friends went to the Bahamas? In the middle of a HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS pandemic where cases are HIGHER THAN EVER and hospitals are turning away ambulances?? Hypocrite.”

California, which has become a coronavirus hotspot, is currently under a “stay at home” order, with hospitals in parts of the state having to turn away ambulances due to an overwhelming number of Covid patients.

According to the US Embassy in the Bahamas’ website, travellers must show a negative Covid test before entry.

The criticism directed at the D’Amelio sisters comes just a month after a video showing their interactions with their private chef was met with intense backlash.

As of now, none of the influencers on the trip have addressed the criticism.
